Mario Naves is an artist, writer and teacher who lives and works in New York City. His criticism has been published in New Art Examiner, The New Criterion, The Wall Street Journal, Smithsonian, City Arts and The New York Observer, where his column “Currently Hanging” appeared on a weekly basis from 1999-2009. He is the recipient of artist’s grants and awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, The E.D. Foundation, The George Sugarman Foundation, The National Academy of Design and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Naves’s criticism and art have been written about in The New York Times, Time Out New York, The Village Voice, The New York Sun, Art in America, ArtNet.Com and other periodicals. Naves’s work is represented by Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York. He teaches at Pratt Institute and Brooklyn College. Naves can be found online at his blog Too Much Art.
