Exhibition: October 4 – 22, 2011
Reception: October 6, 2011 6 – 8 PM
Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 1 – 6 PM
New Art Center is pleased to announce Natural Objects, an exhibition of mixed media work by Jessica Baker. An opening reception for the artist will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM.
Natural Objects presents a brand new series of prints on paper and a site-specific installation that includes whimsical and playful configurations of two and three-dimensional pieces created from leaves, seeds and branches collected from the streets and parks of Brooklyn. Natural Objects aims to encourage a greater appreciation of the bounty of nature that surrounds us, even in the heart of New York City.
Jessica Baker lives and works in Brooklyn, where she collects her materials from the streets and parks of Brooklyn, and creates all of her own prints on a table-top etching press in her studio.
Her prints have been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally.
The New York Times wrote about artist’s work: “…[the] all too short-lived prints resonate in the mind long after one leaves the show. They are absolutely beautiful.”
Natural Objects, the first exhibition of Jessica Baker at the New Art Center, will be on view from October 4 through October 22, 2011.
