Arts In Bushwick is pleased to announce:
Bushwick Open Studios 2012
June 1-3, 2012
Now in its sixth year, Bushwick Open Studios 2012 is primed to be bigger and better than ever. Come find out what we’re planning for this year and how to get invovled at our:
BOS 2012 Kick-Off Meeting
Thursday, March 15th, 2012
8 – 10pm
Brooklyn Fire Proof East
119 Ingraham @ Porter
(L to Morgan)
NOTE: As last year, we are asking all BOS 2012 participants to attend at least one meeting prior to registering for the Festival. Just one more reason to come have a drink with us next Thursday!
Full information about BOS 2012 will be posted to our website shortly, and artist registration will open on April 1st.
This year, one of our top priorities is to engage a large number of Festival participants as volunteers and organizers. As such, we will be launching a new program: the Bushwick All-Stars! The Bushwick All-Stars are a leadership team, committed to making the festival a success through organizing their neighbors and assisting with Festival operations. Bushwick All-Stars will receive special recognition in the Festival program and web directory in exchange for committing 10 or more volunteer hours to help organize and produce the festival.
To become a Bushwick All-Star or get more information about volunteering, check out our volunteer needs below, come to a meeting if you can, and make sure to join our Google Group to stay on top of the planning and get plugged in! And, as always, you can contact us by email at openstudios@artsinbushwick.org for more information.
CALL TO VOLUNTEERS: BOS 2012
Arts In Bushwick is an all-volunteer organization, and we need you!
Volunteering with Arts In Bushwick is a great way to gain experience, build your resume, make connections in the neighborhood and beyond, and contribute to your community! Although we are open to anything you want to do for the festival, big or small, at the moment we are in need of volunteers who can take on some specific lead roles with the team.
Volunteer Coordinator: Arts in Bushwick seeks a highly organized and personable volunteer coordinator to interface with our volunteers throughout the organization of Bushwick Open Studios. This person must be proactive and able to devote several hours per week to keeping the volunteer pool organized. This is a wonderful opportunity to play a key role in organizing Brooklyn’s leading arts festival.
Neighborhood Outreach: Bushwick Open Studios is a community festival, not just an art show. As such, Arts in Bushwick is particularly committed to engaging community organizations and groups outside of the traditional arts community to showcase their work during BOS. We are seeking volunteers interested in building relationships between the arts community and other groups throughout the neighborhood, both for BOS and beyond.
Press Team: We are seeking a highly motivated and media savvy press team to handle media outreach throughout Bushwick Open Studios and manage the Arts in Bushwick blog. This is a great opportunity to have a hand in organizing the Bushwick Open Studios festival and build contacts in local arts media.
Sponsorship Coordinator: We are seeking a very organized sponsorship coordinator for Bushwick Open Studios, who can serve as the lead for soliciting sponsorship opportunities from local businesses and past sponsors of Arts in Bushwick. With an already existing database of sponsors, the coordinator will be securing sponsorship from the database and cultivating new relationships with other businesses. This is an opportunity that will provide the coordinator with amazing experience within the ever-growing arts and business community in Bushwick.
Print Designer: We are seeking an experienced print designer to work with us to produce the BOS2012 print program, and other materials such as flyers and postcards. The print designer will have ownership of design and branding of the festival, and their work will be highly visible throughout the Festival. This is a great opportunity to build your resume and portfolio as a designer for a large-scale, high-profile event.
Web Developer: We are seeking a web developer with WordPress experience to help us manage our website and take our web presence to the next level. We need help with both front-end web design, as well as back-end administration and programming.
Mobile Application Developer: For this year’s BOS, we are hoping to develop a mobile application to work with us to translate our registration listings into a user-friendly mobile format that will help attendees navigate the Festival. If you or anyone you know has experience developing such applications, we would love to hear from you!
Spanish Translation: As always, BOS is committed to producing bi-lingual materials and responding to spanish-language inquiries. If you are able to help translate our print and/or web materials into Spanish, or field emails that we receive from Spanish-speakers, please let us know!
