Artist Statement
My studio is a place of expression, solitude, emotion, playfulness, tedium, escape from reality, light-heartedness, devotion and obsession. It is a haven where I can leave life and the world behind.
My work is the expression of a conversation I have with myself, where a long thread of thoughts connect ideas, memories and emotions with shapes, materials and associations.
The works do not attempt to portray the perfection and beauty of nature but rather present how transitory life is. They are the result of feeling connected to the earth through the spirituality of nature and the beauty and grimness of the world. They challenge the viewer to make an investment of time in order to see beyond their perception of beauty. Though individual components invite intimate confrontation, every object interacts with one another, becoming part of one larger work.
