The Wassaic Project seeks applications for our annual Summer Exhibition and Festival. The Exhibition is housed in a revitalized 7-story grain elevator, featuring art works by emerging artists and past participants from our residency program. The Festival occurs throughout Wassaic, NY and includes music, film, dance, along with performance art. We’re seeking proposals for temporary performances for the Festival and proposals for all mediums for the Exhibition.
Exhibiting artists receive an opportunity to show work or propose site specific installations in a unique space in Wassaic, NY. The Summer Exhibition and Festival is always free and open to the public and helps bring over 4,000 people to the hamlet of Wassaic.
The Summer Exhibition runs from mid-June to mid-September and the Festival occurs from August 5-7 2016. Work is selected by the Wassaic Project’s Co-Directors Eve Biddle, Bowie Zunino, and Jeff Barnett-Winsby. Artists will be notified by early March about their application. ABOUT THE WASSAIC PROJECT
The Wassaic Project is an incubator for emerging artists located in the historic hamlet of Wassaic, NY, two hours north of New York City. Everything we do at the Wassaic Project is inspired by and builds upon our most important resources: our home community of Wassaic, our Wassaic Artist Residency Fellows, and our unique buildings. We are committed to exceptional artwork, strengthening social and cultural capital in the local community, and providing access to great contemporary art. Our Education program connects emerging artists to the community through through onsite programs and school-year partnerships.
