Aloft Hotel and Long Island City Arts Open present Local Nativism. Local Nativism highlights the works of eight painters from Queens who’s evolving perspectives seamlessly walk the line between objective and non-objective painting. As established inhabitants of multifaceted mediums, the simultaneous construction and deconstruction of imagery becomes an inherent byproduct of each artist and their process. During these tumultuous times Local Nativism offers us a glimpse into a practice driven lifestyle where the artist seeks refuge in fantastic explorations that are constantly in flux. A daytime music and arts festival accompanies this exhibition in the hotel’s courtyard lounge the following Saturday. On View May 17th-May 21st 2017
