On June 14 at 6 PM, The New York Women’s Foundation, a champion of community-based solutions for 30 years, will host a Neighborhood Gathering in the Bronx to discuss “Art, Gender, and Social Justice.” Panelists include Marta Effinger-Crichlow, PhD, director and producer of the documentary Little Sallie Walker; Caridad De La Luz “La Bruja,” spoken word artist and activist; and Victoria Sammartino, Founder and Executive Director of Emeritus and Voices UnBroken.
Discussions include the role of art in social change, how the arts can be used as a tool to further civic engagement, and diversifying the perspectives represented in art and the audiences who can access it.
A reception will follow the panel.
