ourWaters, a multi-disciplinary group show put on by the creative collective OSMUNDA, opens at 332 Canal St, New York, on December 13th from 6-9pm. Through art, the show aims to prompt large communities of New Yorkers to spark deeper connections with the natural world so that they can be more engaged in sustainable practices for themselves and their children.

For OSMUNDA:ourWaters the focus is water, how we relate to water in the urban environment and as a connecting fluid for our entire earth. Reflecting on New York City’s once diverse and abundant ecosystem, the exhibit gathers artists and creatives to inspire collaboration and dialogue on our human imprint. The result is an experiential space that weaves art, sound, sculpture, and architecture to reflect the interaction between humans and water.

OurWaters features 13 artists whose work encompasses ideas on humans relationship to water. We believe that art has the ability to change our human behaviors because art creates emotional space that allows for one to feel compassion and empathy. The show will be hosting sound installation artists, designers, and fine art creators all engaging in the same question: “What is the human impact on the natural world?”

The show will feature:: Alfred Megally, Being Sound, Chris Olszewski, Clear Studios, Desdemona Dallas, Future Clear, Hanoux, Joro-Boro, Lena Vidda, Luke Namer, Pooyah Hosseini, Steffi Min, Richard Clarkson Design, Samuel Sutcliff, Sasha Charoensub

Bridging art into the conversation of sustainability, 10% of the proceeds will go to the Newtown Creek Alliance, this organization works to clean the waters of New York City. This is Osmunda’s second group show. The first show was a month long held at Gallery 151 on 14th street. Osmunda is organized by the non-profit production team Future Clear and the social impact film organization Redefined Films.

This gallery exhibit is part of the pop up art series ON Canal. Gallery hours after the show for Osmunda, and all other ON CANAL galleries are Tuesday – Saturday 12 pm – 7 pm (Thursday 12 pm – 9 pm)
