In 19th century Psychiatry there existed the commonly held belief that women were predisposed to madness. The pseudoscience of “Physiognomy” along with portraits from the new invention of photography were believed to aid in diagnosing and treating what often was not mental illness at all. Those photographs and that lesser-known history inspired this second part of ongoing work in progress.
