OPEN CALL FOR NYC DANCE FILMS & PERFORMANCE
As the 50th anniversary of Stonewall approaches, El Sotano Art Space invites New York based dancers to submit work to this open call. We are looking for work that enacts a revolutions through movement and corporality.
Considering the first terrain that we inhabit to be our bodies and from this point all actions that seek revolution and to revolt part from. Thinking of the body as a place where one inhabits and insurrection permeates, the body acts as a terrain where resistance leaves its mark.
The purpose of this exhibition is to vocalize and show the different ways in which queer communities and queer individuals enact resistance, revolution and rebellion; from their own corporality, individual and community actions, materialities and performativity. Thinking of queer Revolutions as something that starts in the viscera, sweats through the skin and filters into the streets.
