Discover Freshkills Park and experience the unique landscape and spectacular views the landfill-to-park project has to offer. This free event is a special opportunity to explore the future park while the site is closed to the public. Hundreds of acres and miles of trails will be open for tours, bicycling, and activities for all ages.

This year Freshkills Park is excited to present activities from community partners. For those looking to learn more about the wildlife, history, or art at the park, walks will be led by NYC Audubon, Staten Island Museum, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Urban Park Rangers, and the Alice Austen House Museum, among others. Interactive art activities include a kite making station, a wind chime workshop led by Skip LaPlante, a drawing workshop led by James Powers, and an interactive exhibition of Daniel Fishkin’s work. Visitors are also welcome to borrow bikes and explore the roadways within the park. All activities and performances are completely free!
