Over the course of two weekends, January 24-26 and February 1-2, NEW INC and Ruinart Champagne will present the Forever First Mixed Reality Pop-up.
Experience the power and fragility of nature through two mixed reality projects as they go on display in the pop-up Ruinart lounge located at the New Museum’s seventh floor Sky Room. Enjoy glasses of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Rosé champagnes as the space is transformed, allowing visitors to explore the relationships between nature, human activity and our changing ecosystems through mixed reality projects: Tree and Dawn Chorus.
Overpower your senses as you metamorphose into a rainforest tree through touch, sight, sound and smell – and experience the tree’s growth from a seedling into its fullest form – in artists’ Milica Zec and Winslow Porter’s virtual reality project Tree. Immerse yourself in the sensorial pleasure of bird songs in Reese Donahue and Sarah Meyohas’ project Dawn Chorus, as they take you through the sights and sounds of virtual birds connected with a grand piano.
