Figureworks is pleased to open 2020 with Michael Sorgatz latest series, The Geometry of Fortune. Michael has been exhibiting regularly at Figureworks since 2012 and within each new series he has kept his focus to the figure in landscapes.
This series is no exception, yet it comes with a fresh departure. His approach is with bold, bright solids and, though there are signature broken areas where the figures get lost in the landscape, he has defined them more linearly, bringing them to the foreground.
Frequently relying on his daily encounter with the masses in NYC, Michael has also dramatically reduced many of these figures to a solitary form in a more spacious horizon. This has allowed this new body of work to feel less observational and more self reflective.
Figureworks is located at 168 North 6th St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211.
The gallery is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 PM and is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary and 20th century fine art of the human form.
