Currently, in residency at Tuleste Factory in New York, Andres Ciccone previously resided in Lisbon and Berlin. Andres Ciccone ambitiously continues his defiant artistic research in order to create never seen before, multidimensional experiences, where the viewer’s perception is challenged through the movement of geometrical forms that are composed through rhythm, color, and equilibrium.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Andres Ciccone’s artistic aspirations originate from the Kinetic and Op-art movement which is known for its great Venezuelan masters. Eager to establish himself within the movement he attended the Academy of Art and Design in Caracas, and afterward the Art Academy in Berlin, Germany.
Here, his first artistic endeavors began at which the artist started to experiment with the visual possibilities of movement, space and color on a plane. A practice that serves as the fundament through which his oeuvre must be understood.
Andres Ciccone’s artistic work is the creative outcome of profoundly conducted research in Kinetic/ Op-art theories and practices, with the objective to surpass the boundaries of movement, space, and color in art. The artist’s eagerness to outperform ‘already
done’ conventions in Kinetic and Op-art is expressed in the development of his artworks where the increase in optical and kinetical complexity cannot be missed.
