One Art Space will feature Tae Ho Kang, So Moon Kim, Yoon Chung Kim, Hei Myung Hyun, and Dong Hyun Chung, five trail-blazing artists from California. “A Gift for Precious Memories”, will be showing from June 13-27, 2022, and will have its opening reception on June 17th, 2022 from 6-9 PM.

Tae Ho Kang, an artist who captures the essence of time, like the rings in a tree, and illustrates the sublimation of time through the usage of colors. He is a true artist that conveys life through his work. Hidden gems of time can be found between the masterful layering of colors in his pieces.

So Moon Kim has been enraptured by the constant theme of maternal love that has been with mankind since the beginning of time. He portrays maternal love on his canvas through unprecedented stylistic choices. He has poured this theme into his work all his life and it has been a constant source of inspiration for him.

Yoon Chung Kim “Sending Writings” is a series that include her daily writings that are symbolically sent out into the ocean on a wave to her deceased husband. It is her way of having a dialogue with him, which was a big part of their relationship that she misses. She sets a new standard for modern ceramic.

Hei Myung C. Hyun portrays her longing for tranquility and reflects on nature in various styles. The subject of her work is based on her gratitude and praise to God and love for nature on her path of life. With all her heart, she evokes her emotions, as if in joyful play with the canvas, and always strives to create work that is pure.

Dong Hyun Chung wants to alleviate her anxiety surrounding the question of “Where am I” through her work. She creates beautiful compositions where she desires to connect with the pain of the women before her. Without using paint or brushes, she uses Hanji and drills to draw out women’s lives in a way that is strong and beautiful.

With each paramount artist representing the first generation of immigrants in Southern California, we hope this will be an exhibition that showcases a fresh, unique, and peaceful sense of California to New Yorkers. “I will do my best to make this exhibition a cherished and unforgettable experience for these fantastic artists. I hope this exhibition is like a gift to them and that it conveys my gratitude towards them for having been a part of some of my happiest and fondest memories from when we were young.”
