Poster House, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the global history of posters, invites you to join them for a live recording of Randy Cohen’s public radio series, Person Place Thing on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Poster House, 119 West 23rd Street in Manhattan.
Poster House Advisory Board member and tartan legend, Nicholas “Nicho” Lowry, will be interviewed during this special segment. Nicholas’ skillset and expertise in the art realm is quite expansive –auctioneer, specialist, lecturer, curator, historian, enthusiast, and collector – he is a man who wears many hats. Nicholas is perhaps best known for his role as the President and Principal Auctioneer of Swann Auction Galleries, where he is also the Director of its vintage posters department. As one of the world’s foremost authorities on vintage posters, he has spent nearly 25 years serving regularly as a poster appraiser on the PBS television series Antiques Roadshow.
Person Place Thing is an interview show based on the idea that people are particularly engaging when they speak, not directly about themselves, but about something they care about. Guests talk about one person, one place, and one thing with particular meaning to them. The result: surprising stories from great talkers and thinkers.
Admission price is set at $15. Poster House Members can use their email address at checkout to receive 20% off the ticket price. Tickets for the event be purchased HERE. Poster House’s main spring exhibitions, Black Power to Black People: Branding the Black Panther Party and Made in Japan: 20th-Century Poster Art, are now on view.
