Isabel Sullivan Gallery is pleased to present Richard Hambleton: Upheaval. Richard Hambleton was one of the most prominent and pioneering figures of the downtown New York art scene throughout the 1980’s, along with his contemporaries Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. This exhibition highlights his “Horse & Rider”, “Shadowman” and “Shadow Head” series, consisting of energetically painted, explosive black-silhouetted figures that exude the theatricality and visceral emotion that Hambleton is so well known for. Also on display are two intimate portraits, photographed as part of Hambleton’s “Image Mass Murder” series. The exhibition is on view from September 7 through October 5, 2024.
