Every First Friday is different, offering unique opportunities such as tours, workshops, performances, and activities, to further engage visitors with the exhibitions. First Friday activities for April 4th include:
● 11am-2pm: Oppenheimer Movie Screening
Poster House is pleased to present a screening of Oppenheimer (2023) in conjunction with the new exhibition Fallout: Atoms for War & Peace. ● 1-7pm: Drop-in printmaking activity with Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop – $10
Stop by the Poster History Timeline on First Friday for a printmaking demonstration led by Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop! This month, try your hand at linoleum block printing inspired by the new exhibition Puerto Rico in Print: The Posters of Lorenzo Homar.
● 3-4:30pm: Fused Bioplastic Collage Workshop – $10
Have you ever wondered what you can create with discarded plastics? Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Fallout: Atoms for War & Peace, this hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the technique of fusing or layering plastics using an iron. Participants will explore the material affordances of various types of biodegradable, recyclable, and single-use plastics in order to create fused plastic collages inspired by posters on environmental activism. Join Poster House in this imaginative intervention into the life cycle of plastics! Please note: masks are required due to the materials used in this workshop.
● 5-6pm: Munich Olympics Curatorial Tour
Enjoy a rare chance to talk about design with one of the foremost designers in the world! Join Michael Bierut, curator (and partner) at the esteemed design agency Pentagram, on a curatorial tour of the posters made by Otl Aicher for the 1972 Munich Olympics.
