Poster House will host its first Winter Family Day on December 7, 2025, offering free admission and hands-on art activities for children and their caregivers. Running from 10 AM to 3 PM, the event brings printmaking, design, nature-focused workshops, and craft sessions into the galleries of the country’s only museum dedicated to poster history.
Families can explore ongoing exhibitions—including The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of Fascist Italy and Blazing a Trail: Dorothy Waugh’s National Parks Posters (through February 22, 2026)—as well as the capsule shows Utopia in Our Time: The Posters of Molly Crabapple and Art for Art House: The Posters of Peter Strausfeld (on view through April 12, 2026).
Throughout the day, Poster House educators and guest organizations lead drop-in workshops that draw from techniques central to the museum’s mission: making terrazzo-style clay bowls, designing wearable buttons, painting with natural dyes, examining NYC’s urban wildlife, and experimenting with traditional letterpress type. All programs are free, material-inclusive, and designed for children with their adults.
