“She in the Tower” Opens at 7 House Gallery in Brooklyn for One Night Only
Era Contemporary and 7 House Gallery present She in the Tower, a solo show and curatorial project by Jessica Libor, with curatorial consulting by Marina Granger and artist liaison consulting by Jo Gamel. The exhibition opens Wednesday, May 7, 2026 at 35 Meadow Street, Brooklyn, for a single-day event combining a gallery show, live ballet performance, and interactive fairy tale installation.
She in the Tower invites viewers into an expanded realm of interior myth and psychological architecture. Rooted in the enduring archetype of the girl in the tower, Libor’s newest body of oil paintings and drawings reframes this figure as a sovereign consciousness in incubation. Drawing from fairy tales including Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Rose Red, as well as Nordic mythology informed by a recent artist residency at the Akureyri Art Museum in Iceland, the exhibition transcends narrative nostalgia to articulate a contemporary psychology of feminine identity.
The exhibition unfolds as a dual-layered experience: Libor’s solo presentation of new work is paired with a curated selection of artists responding to the same thematic terrain, exploring confinement and transcendence, autonomy and risk, and the symbolic power of internal transformation. At 6:30 pm, NYC ballerina Katherine Honch will perform a live excerpt from Sleeping Beauty, extending the exhibition’s themes into movement and embodied space.
“She in the Tower not only embodies Libor’s deepest artistic articulation to date, it builds a constellation of voices that interrogate what fairy tales reveal about autonomy, choice, and transcendence in contemporary life,” the organizers note. The VIP opening includes a gallery walkthrough, a talk on fairy tale history, symbolism, and myth as modern psychological terrain, a special gift bag, and a gifted print by Libor. All attendees must register in advance; the VIP ticket price applies toward any art purchase at the exhibition.
