Nancy Lunsford at 440 Gallery
Thursday, May 19th

“Memoir” is Nancy Lunsford’s fourth solo exhibit at 440 Gallery.  The show, running through June 26th, consists of recent work and a retrospective of her work over the last two decades.  The anchor of the show is an installation and performance piece consisting of a desk with the artist present, working on a written memoir, drawing, painting or engaging visitors in conversation.

Lunsford’s work over the last few years has incorporated traditional Appalachian quilt patterns in her collage and assemblage.  This performance piece is described by the artist as a “living quilt” composed of remnants her past experience, both personal and artistic.  There will also be events scheduled during the run of the show, including a reading of her memoirs and a slide show, utilizing her vintage Kodak Carousel projector, of her early work and influences.

Opening reception with the artist on Thursday, May 19th from 6-9 PM
