Mural Unveiling Celebration at MacDonald Park in Forest Hills This Saturday

Friends of MacDonald Park and Queens mural artist Deborah Camp invite the public to a free outdoor celebration marking the unveiling of Forest Hills Planting the Seeds of Tomorrow, a six-piece handpainted mural by Camp. The event takes place Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 12 pm at MacDonald Park, at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and Yellowstone Boulevard in Forest Hills, Queens.

The mural marks the first wall mural to arrive in MacDonald Park in 95 years, created as part of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation’s Art in the Parks program. Camp’s design transforms previously blank walls into whimsical visual narratives carrying messages of hope, community unity, and environmental stewardship. The six-piece work highlights what the organizers describe as the healing and inspiring power of art in public space.

The celebration will feature live performances by John Beltzer of the Songs of Love Foundation and The Garden Players, music by DJ Nett, balloon making, photo ops, and family activities. Snacks and refreshments will be provided by Northwell Long Island Jewish Forest Hills and Trader Joe’s. Sponsors include The Frances & Benjamin Benenson Foundation Inc., DMVStop, Ridgewood Savings Bank, and the NYC Green Fund Grassroots Grant Program. A children’s art workshop program is scheduled to follow on Saturday, June 27.

The event is free and open to all. Forest Hills Planting the Seeds of Tomorrow is a community-driven public art project and a milestone for one of Queens’ most beloved parks.
