Lance Paull’s “Light as Narrator” Opens at Prince Street Gallery in Chelsea

Prince Street Gallery presents Light as Narrator, a solo exhibition of new paintings by guest artist Lance Paull. The show opens with a public reception on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 5–8 pm and remains on view through July 4, 2026 at 547 West 27th Street in Chelsea.

In this latest body of work, Paull moves beyond the mere application of light, allowing it to take center stage as protagonist. Through a series of large-scale acrylic and mixed-media works, he explores the tension where dramatic light breaks through moody landscapes and allegorical scenes. Light here is not passive illumination but an active force — structuring narrative, generating atmosphere, and shaping the emotional weight of each composition.

Paull is an artist with an interest in the many ways we tell our stories, drawing inspiration from visual relationships, lived experience, collective history, and our sense of place in the world. Light as Narrator represents a focused and ambitious extension of that practice, using the drama of light and shadow to locate meaning in allegorical and landscape-based imagery.

The exhibition is a concise and visually striking presentation that rewards sustained attention, with works that shift in mood and meaning depending on how the light falls.
